I'm sitting on the living room floor of our apartment leeching WiFi. We're on the ground floor, one of the 2 downsides of this apartment, and there's only a slight breeze blowing through the windows. We're waiting impatiently for IKEA to possibly deliver our things today and for Kotsovolos to deliver our appliances. We're not sure if either will happen because we dont' have a phone.

Being surrounded by Greek hasn't been as difficult as I thought. The alphabet has been quite easy to learn (there are 3 miniscules I still don't remember), and English is indebted to Greek enough for me to pick out a few words through etymology. I really want to find a way to put some of the words on here to share, but I'm not sure how. Anyone?

Tomorrow a group of us are meeting at the Ambelokipi metro station to go to Piraeus and to Aegina (did I already say this?), Greek schedules willing. (I did already say this. I swear I have more to talk about!)

I'm quite proud of McCain for picking Palin as his VP candidate. If we're going to have a historic election, let's make it as historic as possible! Now both parties are encumbered by an old white guy.

I think I missed what the other downside to the apartment was.

As far as writing words in Greek, why not just compose your post in Word and use a Greek font?

Hi D, I'm leaving this anonymously so people who know me (and dislike me) won't find you by association. But if you want to use Greek letters, there's a way to adjust your settings on your PC or Mac to include an easy switchover between languages without having to use a different keyboard (you just need to get familiar where the Greek characters are). On a Mac, you'd go to System Preferences -> International -> Input Menu, then tick the box for Ellinika or whatever other language you want. After the changes are applied, an American and Greek flag should appear in the upper right bar, and you can switch between them.

And just my two cents, so feel free to ignore me, but instead of keeping two blogs, it might be easier to just put all the stories here. Crazy or not. It's all good, there are no holes in your story and no switching back and forth.

It's been really great to read your story so far. It's been more than a decade that I arrived here and those "new" things I once saw as adventures are long gone.

ΕΦΧΑΡΙΣΤΟ, and I have no idea if that's how you spell it!

Thanks for stopping by, AnonXpat, and thanks for the advice! I know it's easier to keep only one blog, and I fully expect one of them to die off unintentionally, but I have a bit of an attachment to the old one.

I'm intensely curious, now, about how you found me, why you found me, and what brought you to Greece for 10 years!

May your enemies wither and blister, and may you have a great week!
