We went to The Mall again--this time while the stores were opened--and went to a movie. As we walked into the ticketing area, we saw girls wearing white leggings and purple blouses offering people something from black cases. They were offering complimentary cigarettes. If you filled out a short survey, you also received a free USB drive.

I read a book a few years back about tobacco companies really ramping up marketing of ciggys in other countries, because of the heavy regulation in the US. I know in the Philippines, you could by cigarettes by the stick for 2 cents at every street corner in Manila.
Bolivia was the same way: individual cigarettes for 50 cents or 3 for a boliviano. Smoking in Greece is completely out of control (whatever 'controlled' smoking would mean), and there's absolutely no visible campaign against it. They're supposed to go smoke-free in 2010, but considering the way Greeks treat other laws, I don't imagine enforcement will by that great.
